#CLNBKK2018, the CLN's Most Successful & Biggest Conference!
Our CLN 16th Annual Partnership Meeting in Bangkok last April 3 – 6, 2018 has been so far, the most successful and biggest CLN conference, as we have gathered around 300 freight forwarders from all over the world bringing our members closer to each other with more opportunities ahead.
#CLNBKK2018 kicked-off with a grooving retro-themed Welcome Cocktail sponsored by CT Freight Pty Ltd (Australia). The evening of the 1st day of the conference was filled with a night of fab with delegates wearing their retro 70’s attire. From the curly afro retro wigs, retro headbands, oversized vintage shades, 70’s blings, fake mustache, checkered, floral prints and bright colored blouses, long sleeves and suits, flared pants and up to the 70’s platform shoes – everyone’s having a blast and enjoying the 70’s theme!
The 2nd day of the conference started off with the ribbon cutting led by CLN Director & Co-founder Nils Walle together with the event sponsors including Perimeter Global Logistics, IFS International Freight Shipping Sac, New Orientation Logistics, Resources Freight Pte Limited, Wings Logistics (Pvt) Ltd, CT Freight Pty Ltd, Francesco Parisi Casa Di Spedizioni S.P.A., Finlogistics ( FL Services Oy), Anglia Forwarding Ltd, Advantage Worldwide (UK) Ltd, Shipco Transport, Calenberg Oversea Logistics Gmbh & Co. Kg, Multicargo Transportes E Logistics Lda., Sprint Logistics (M) Sdn Bhd, Jiangsu Seda Supply Chain Management Co.,Ltd. and Polimex Forwarding Corp. officially opening the conference, Nils delivered the network management updates with special recognition of the newest CLN members.
Also revealed during the presentation was the newly improved CLN Intranet with upgraded features to further connect members with just few clicks. Nils also introduced and presented the Outsourcing with RW – Recruitment – Office Hosting and Admin with RW Solutions Ltd. Afterwards, Mr. Mark Millar, Asia's foremost speaker and a respected authority on logistics and supply chain strategies, industry trends and market developments shared a keynote speech on How Digital Disruption Impacts the Supply Chain. It was then followed by the Diamond Sponsor Presentation presented by Raj Sobhani of Perimeter Global Logistics. In the afternoon, hundreds of face-to-face meetings sponsored Shipco Transport were scheduled among delegates. The CLN delegates were able to rekindle friendships and likewise started to develop new business ideas together.
A sunny day and a humid temperature didn’t stop the delegates to participate in the City Tour at the Grand Palace, one of the well-known attraction in Bangkok. Amidst the huge crowd, delegates enjoyed sightseeing to the numerous scrupulously designed buildings, halls, pavilions and courtyards where it used to be the official residence of the country’s royalties. After the city tour, delegates returned to the hotel for the lunch and for the Face to Face Meetings.
One of the much-awaited programs of the event is the Sunset Cocktail Cruise & Awards sponsored by Multicargo Transportes e Logistics LDA. Wearing CLN shirt sponsored by Anglia Forwarding Ltd, all participants enjoyed the sunset. The cocktail started off with the award ceremony of the CLN Loyalty Awardees. The CLN Loyalty Awards were handed out as well to members who have been with the network for 3 years, 5 years, 8 years, 10 years, 12 years, 15 years and a special mention to our honorary members who have been with the network for over 16 years now.
One of the highlights of the night is also the awarding ceremony of character awards for the Retro 70's Welcome Cocktail Reception and the winners of the raffle items sponsored by Sprint Logistics (M) Sdn Bhd, Jiangsu Seda Supply Chain Management Co.,Ltd. And Polimex Forwarding Corp. The Best Dressed award for female goes to Ewa Twardowska of Peko Spedycja Międzynarodowa W. Jankowski, P. Stachura, Spółka Jawna (Poland) while Andrew Smithurst of Cardinal Maritime Limited (United Kingdom) claimed the award for the male category. Paul Snookes of Anglia Forwarding Ltd (United Kingdom) and Ayca Turkantos of Seaworld Shipping both won the Best Personality Award. Best Looks award goes to the Amerasia sisters, Charlice and Jenna Lin and Rajan Sobhani of Perimeter Global Logistics, where both companies representing United States of America. Finally, the Last Man Standing Award winner is Jeralin Dee of Royal Cargo (Cambodia) Co. Ltd. who left the ballroom of the welcome cocktail party at 9:02pm. In between the character & loyalty awards ceremony were the Sunset Cocktail River Cruise Raffle took place. Cocktail River Cruise Raffle winners are Birger Witalis of Eat Air & Sea Logistics A/S (Denmark); Erik Forssberg of Global Freight Solutions AB (G-Solutions) (Sweden) and Avishay Viviorka of Riumar Shipping Ltd.
The sunset cocktail river cruise activity ends with the CLN Beer Competition on the Boat sponsored by Calenberg Oversea Logistics GmbH & Co. KG (Germany). Winners of the beer competition are Felipe Mazzini of Silver Freight Logistics Srl (Argentina) who got the bronze medal; a silver medal for Richard Chua of Armada International (M) Sdn Bhd (Malaysia) and the champion that won the gold medal is Pradeep Jhala of Transmodal Marine Logistics Pvt Ltd (India). The last day of the conference ended with the Happy Hour sponsored by Calenberg Oversea Logistics GmbH & Co. KG (Germany). There’s nothing better than ending the conference with some bottle of beers!
